Cyberpunk 2077 features a wide array of unique weaponry, but few items stand out as distinctly as Skippy, the talking smart pistol. This iconic sidearm comes equipped with its own artificial intelligence, level-scaling damage, and built-in auto-targeting capabilities. Finding this vocal firearm requires a quick trip to the Heywood district of Night City.
Locating Skippy in Vista Del Rey
To acquire Skippy, players must travel to the Vista Del Rey suburb located in the eastern part of Heywood. The easiest route is fast-traveling to the College Street waypoint and heading south across the main road. Look for an alleyway marked with red wall graffiti next to a large building before jumping over the gate.
Inside the secluded alley, you will discover Skippy lying on the ground next to an unidentified corpse. Interacting with the gun immediately triggers a conversation with its quirky AI voice. Once picked up, the weapon automatically binds to your inventory and begins its intro dialogue.
Choosing Between Firing Modes
During your initial conversation, Skippy will prompt you to select one of two operational targeting modes. The Stone Cold Killer mode guarantees lethal headshots, while the Puppy-Loving Pacifist mode restricts targeting to lower extremities. However, players should choose carefully because the AI permanently switches to the opposite mode after securing fifty eliminations.
If you want to keep the lethal headshot mode permanently, you should initially select the pacifist option. After achieving fifty non-lethal incapacitations, Skippy will switch over to headshots for the remainder of your playthrough. Conversely, starting with Stone Cold Killer will eventually force the gun into non-lethal mode permanently.
Requirements and the Machine Gun Quest
Because Skippy is a Smart Pistol, players need to equip Smart Link cyberware to utilize its full lock-on potential. The weapon automatically scales its base damage with your character level, making it a reliable choice throughout your entire adventure. This eliminates the need for frequent manual upgrading at crafting benches.
After using the pistol for a few days, Skippy will remember its original owner and launch the Machine Gun side quest. This mission prompts you to return the weapon to the fixer Regina Jones in exchange for a cash reward. You can choose to complete the quest for money or retain the gun for your personal arsenal.
